In exercise of the powers under Section 35 read with sub-section (3) of Section 12 of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Boards Act, 1982 (U.P. Act No. 5 of 1982), the Governor is pleased to make the following rules :-

1. Short title and commencement. – (1) These rules may called the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection (Constitution of Boards) Rules, 1993.

(2) They shall come into force at once.

1. Definitions. – In these rules, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context –

(a) ‘Act’ means the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Boards Act, 1982;

(b) ‘Convenor’ means the Convenor of the Selection Committee constituted under sub-section (3) of Section 12 of the Act.

1. Selection and recommendation of persons for appointment as President and members of Board. – (1) The Convenor shall, for the purpose of selection of persons for appointment as President and members of all or any of the Boards, call for the names of suitable eligible candidates separately for President and members, in pro formaappended to these rules, from the Secretaries to the State Government in the Appointment, Judicial and Education, including Higher Education Departments.

(2) After the names of the candidates are received, the Convenor shall prepare separate lists for President and members and place the same before the Selection Committee along with the pro forma as referred to in sub-rule (1).

(3) The Selection Committee shall consider the names of the candidates and if it considers necessary, it may call for any other information or record as it may deem proper and recommend to the State Government the names of the persons found most suitable for appointment as President and members of the Board.
